Finance Minister T Harish Rao slammed the BJP for its opportunistic politics, claiming that while Telangana built drying platforms for farmers’ convenience, the BJP-led Union government demanded Rs.150 crore in compensation.
K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Chief Minister, had stated that he would not allow metres to be installed at agricultural pump sets until his last breath. On the contrary, he said during a meeting at Nandi Medaram in Peddapalli on Thursday that the BJP government was working against farmers’ interests.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi assures that there will be no privatisation of Singareni in Ramagundam, but then reverses his position in New Delhi,” Harish Rao said, adding that this was evidence of the BJP’s opportunistic politics.
All sections of the state were prospering under the Chief Minister’s leadership. The BJP leaders were getting nervous as the State government issued recruitment notices, he said.
The Finance Minister also slammed the Congress and Telugu Desam parties for feigning concern for the farming community. Previously, the Congress government had caused a lot of distress among farmers, forcing many to commit suicide in the state, he said.
Making fun of Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s claims about farmer welfare, the Finance Minister reminded the former Chief Minister that agriculture was futile.
