Teachers in government and local body schools across the state will soon be able to use tablet computers to track students’ academic progress, deliver digital content, and keep attendance records.
The Mana Ooru-Mana Badi/Mana Basti-Mana Badi programme is outfitting government schools throughout the State with digital classrooms, but the distribution of these Tablet PCs will enhance digital education in the classrooms even more. Because these devices include SIM, Wi-Fi, and Volte, teachers can access digital content via the internet by scanning quick reaction codes printed in State Board textbooks.
Aside from that, the Tablet PCs include a student tracker app that will assist in keeping track of students’ admission details, transfers, and academic performance, as well as ‘Tholimettu,’ a programme to achieve minimum competence in languages and non-languages among primary school students.
Such records will assist both government schools and district and state administration in determining students’ learning levels and, as a result, introducing new interventions to help students achieve minimum competence levels. At the moment, the School headmaster manually records students’ attendance and academic performance, which is later compiled at the mandal and district levels.
In addition to tracking student attendance, teachers and staff geo-attendance will also be tracked using tablet computers with built-in GPS. The school staff must mark their attendance as geo-attendance in the app by taking a selfie photograph that includes the latitude and longitude of the school building as well as a time stamp. “It has been decided to supply 20,000 Tablet PCs to government elementary schools in the State as part of the Samagra Shiksha scheme. A tender has already been issued for the same. “Teachers will receive Tablet PCs before the start of the next academic year,” an official said.
