A couple in Andhra Pradesh decided to make their wedding day extra special by pledging to donate their organs, and their gesture has inspired about 60 of their relatives to fill out organ donation forms.
Satish Kumar and Sajeeva Rani are set to marry on December 29 in their village Velivennu near Nidadavolu town in East Godavari district.
On his wedding day, the young man wanted to do something good by pledging to donate his organs. The bride decided to follow in his footsteps as well.
Satish Kumar also wished to encourage others to make organ donation pledges. He had the brilliant idea of printing the message on the wedding card. The message ‘Donate organs – Be life savers’ surprised the invitees.
His gesture was well received. Around 60 relatives from both the bridegroom’s and bride’s sides agreed to donate their organs.
G. Sitamahalakshmi, chairperson of the Visakhapatnam-based Savitribai Phule Education and Charitable Trust, will receive the organ donation forms on the wedding day.
Satish Kumar decided to organise an organ donation programme on his wedding day with the assistance of the Willing To Help Foundation. Many people have praised his act, which is expected to raise awareness about organ donation.
