The Sankranti festival turned tragic for the families of four people who went swimming at Vikarabad’s Kotpally reservoir.
On Monday afternoon, four people drowned while swimming at the Kotpally reservoir in the Vikarabad district during the Sankranti festival.
Lokesh (28), Venkatesh (25), Jagadish (24), and Rajesh (24), all residents of Podur mandal in Vikarabad district, drowned.
According to the police, the four went to the Kotpally reservoir project on Monday afternoon because it was Sankranti, and it was the first time the four relatives had met in a long time. “They all went for a swim in the water and drowned,” police said.
After receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and, with the assistance of swimmers and rescuers, recovered the bodies from the water. All of the bodies have been moved to the mortuary for postmortem examination. A case has been opened.
