New Delhi: Air India confirmed on Thursday that a passenger on Air India flight 142 from Paris to Delhi on December 6 relieved himself on a woman co-vacant passenger’s seat and blanket while the latter was in the lavatory.
“The crew identified and isolated the offender and reported the incident to authorities. “The plane was met upon arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, and the passenger was taken into custody by CISF personnel,” said an airline spokesperson.
After the victim and the accused reached an agreement, the CISF let the accused go after he offered a written apology. According to the spokesperson, Air India did not file a police report because the victim requested it.
The incident, the second on an Air India international flight, was announced on Thursday.
According to sources, the DGCA, the aviation regulator, is looking into the matter.
Earlier on Thursday, the DGCA stated that Air India’s conduct in the case of a Mumbai businessman urinating on a female co-passenger on board an AI New York-New Delhi flight on November 26, 2022, was unprofessional and resulted in a systemic failure, as provisions related to handling an unruly passenger on board were not followed.
Following the airline’s report on the incident, it issued show cause notices to senior Air India executives, pilots, and cabin crew on the flight.
