In New Delhi: In order to address a flaw in the operating systems of the iPhone and iPad that hackers have been actively using in the wild, Apple has released a new security update.
According to the business, the security update is compatible with iPhone 8 and subsequent devices, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 5th generation and later, and iPad mini 5th generation and later.
Processing maliciously generated online material might result in the execution of arbitrary code, according to Apple.
The IT behemoth reportedly “is aware of a report that this problem may have been deliberately exploited,” it was revealed.
Apple thanked The Citizen Lab at the Munk School of The University of Toronto for helping to find and notify the firm about the issue.
The Citizen Lab is renowned for disclosing Israeli company NSO Group’s hacking software used by the government.
The most recent flaw occurred in Apple’s WebKit browser engine, which powers Safari.
Downloadable security fixes for iOS 16.3.1 and iPadOS 16.3.1 are now available to close the issue.
