HYDERABAD: On Friday, a group of representatives from the Backward Classes met with Finance Minister T Harish Rao and asked him to boost funding for the BCs in the State Budget for 2023–2024. The request received a favourable response from Harish Rao. R Krishnaiah, a Rajya Sabha member and the head of the National Backward Classes Association, met with Harish Rao and asked him to raise the allocations for BCs from 2% to 10%.
They requested the finance minister to provide the BC Corporation and the MBC Corporation each Rs 4,000 crore, as well as enough money to cover BC students’ whole tuition costs on par with those of SC and ST students.
The Association also requested Harish to raise the meal fees for SSC students from Rs. 1,100 to Rs. 2,000 and for kids in classes 3 to 7, from Rs. 950 to Rs. 1,600. The delegation included Gujja Krishn, Neela Venkatesh, and other individuals.
