He was informed by police that he may schedule meetings as long as they adhered to the guidelines and that he needed authorization in advance to have meetings. “What? He yelled at them, “Do I need your permission?,” and the TDP attempted to convene the gathering in front of a tiny temple rather than in an open area.
The TDP leaders meanwhile organised attendees from outside the party for the meeting. Police struggled mightily to restrain the mob as it pushed through the barriers, smashing them. Some TDP leaders allegedly even attacked the police officers, forcing them to use physical force to maintain order.
