Beijing: A representative for the Chinese foreign ministry stated that a “civilian” airship entered US airspace “unintentionally” owing to “force majeure.”
A Chinese unmanned blimp has reportedly been seen lately in US airspace, according to earlier media accounts.
In a statement, the spokesman identified the blimp as Chinese and noted that it is a civilian aircraft used for research, mostly meteorological research.
The airship strayed far from its intended trajectory due to the Westerlies’ influence and its restricted capacity for self-steering, according to the spokeswoman, as cited by the Xinhua news agency.
The spokesman stated that “the Chinese side regrets the accidental entry of the airship into U.S. airspace owing to force majeure,” adding that the Chinese side will “fully resolve this unanticipated circumstance created by force majeure.”
