Rachael Haynes’s comeback was of little use to Thunder because it was her final WBBL season. The club declared that a change was necessary in a statement for the duration of the summer on an interim basis.

Haynes retired from international play in September 2022 after playing in 6 Tests, 77 ODIs, and 84 T20 Internationals.

Haynes said of her departure at Thunder, “I try to just accept it, but it isn’t something that sits very nicely with me to be honest. “I’ve probably tried to escape the spotlight for the most of my career. But I do appreciate all your efforts, and I’m really appreciative of the guys for sending me off.”
