The State Congress started protesting the issues sarpanches were having and the lack of funding for panchayats.
Hyderabad: TPCC president A Revanth Reddy urged sarpanches to organise rallies throughout the State, declaring that the Congress party will take legal action against the State government for allegedly delaying the transfer of cash to gramme panchayats.
The State Congress started protesting on Monday in response to the issues sarpanches are having and the lack of funding for panchayats. Before leaving towards Dharna Chowk, Indira Park, the TPCC president was detained for taking part in the demonstration and was then transported to the Bolarum Police station. He was discharged in the afternoon.
Revanth Reddy said in a statement to the media that the State administration was usurping the authority of the Gram Panchayats. He said that the Central government’s released money were used for other projects, and he also charged the State administration of paying corporate enterprises’ invoices while holding up cash for panchayats.
He also criticised the police for how they treated leaders and activists of the Congress party. He said, “We’ll go to the High Court to get permission to hold protests at Dharna Chowk.
