At the Nallapadu police station, a case of negligent homicide that does not constitute murder has been filed against the organisers Vuyyuru Srinivas and others.
Amaravati: Police in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, have filed a complaint in relation to the stampede that occurred on Sunday and resulted in the deaths of three women and 13 injuries.
At the Nallapadu police station, a case of negligent homicide that does not constitute murder has been filed against the organisers Vuyyuru Srinivas and others.
The police eventually added Section 304 (II) of the Indian Penal Code after first filing a case under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (IPC).
On the basis of a complaint made by a Rambabu, the case was opened.
The Sankranti gift distribution organised by the Vuyyuru Foundation took place in a field close to JKC College in Guntur when there was a rush.
The catastrophe, according to the police, occurred just after N. Chandrababu Naidu, the president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and a former chief minister, departed the location after launching the event.
One woman passed away immediately, and two more perished at THE Government General Hospital (GGH).
One of the four ladies receiving care at a private hospital is reportedly in critical condition.
At GGH, other ladies who had minor injuries were receiving care.
The authorities later turned over the remains of the three victims to their relatives after performing an autopsy on their bodies at GGH on Monday.
G. Ramadevi (52), Syed Asiya (40), and Jaan Be were the victims (50).
As a greater than expected throng assembled, there was a rush. The police said that the organisers had notified them that 10,000 people were anticipated and that they had made the necessary preparations. But 15,000 to 20,000 individuals showed up to get the kits, which included a saree and food.
Even though the police had advised the organisers to set up 30 counters, they only set up 15. Additionally, they did not send out a sufficient number of volunteers.
The relatives of the dead will get ex-gratia payments from the Vuyyuru Foundation of Rs 20 lakh apiece. Additionally, it will cover the costs of the wounded party’s medical care.
After expressing horror at the tragedy, Chandrababu Naidu declared an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each person.
Chief Minister Y S. Jagan Mohan Reddy declared that each decedent’s relatives would receive Rs 2 lakh, and each injured person would receive Rs 50,000.
“It is quite upsetting that three people perished in the rush that occurred after I left the location as the presentation came to an end. “I merely attended the event to support that nonprofit that is working to serve the underprivileged,” Chandrababu Naidu remarked.
When visiting GGH on Sunday night, Home Minister V. Rajini accused Naidu of the demise. She said that his publicity mania was responsible for individuals losing their lives.
