He advised the newly hired physicians to work hard and acquire the esteem of the underprivileged and rural residents.

HYDERABAD: Health Minister T Harish Rao stated on Friday that the Kanti Velugu programme will start on January 18 and emphasised the importance of ASHA workers and ANMs in the field in ensuring that everyone in the State is tested and that those in need of prescription medications and eyeglasses are given them.

According to Harish Rao, the State government is anxious for Kanti Velugu to set new records and enter the Guinness Book of World Records. When he presided over a review meeting with ASHA staff, ANMS, medical officers, deputy district medical health officers, and DMHOs, he made it clear that they should make sure that the implementation of Kanti Velugu does not interfere with the routine medical care offered in the sub-centers and PHCs. Harish said: “Sub-centres and PHCs play a key role in recognising sickness at its earlier stage and preventing patients from major diseases. We all know that prevention is better than treatment.

“In order to enhance the PHCs’ primary healthcare system, 929 physicians have been replaced. We are hiring physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel to fill open positions while sub-centers and PHCs are being repaired and built, the minister stated.

He advised the newly hired physicians to work hard and acquire the esteem of the underprivileged and rural residents. Harish claimed that the Maternal Mortality Rate in Telangana has decreased from 92 in 2014 to 43 as a result of the efforts of the state’s health department. In a similar vein, the infant mortality rate has dropped from 39 to 23.

In December 2022, Sangareddy district saw the majority of deliveries in government hospitals, accounting for 86% of all deliveries in the area, he added. He said that Sangareddy has served as a model for other districts.

According to Harish, more births are occurring in private hospitals in the districts of Jagtial, Karimnagar, and Suryapet when sub-centres are taken into account. He gave instructions to the DMHO, programme officials, and deputy DMHO to tour communities and take action to raise the proportion of births occurring in public hospitals.

Most C-sections in Nalgonda and Rangareddy are performed in private facilities. The minister gave instructions to the staff to make steps to cut back on needless C-section births. According to the statistics from the previous three months, the situation should improve in the districts of Jangaon, Rajanna-Sircilla, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Suryapet, and Komrum-Bheem.
