Hyderabad: On Tuesday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy declared that Visakhapatnam will be the new capital of the State at the International Diplomatic Alliance summit in New Delhi, around nine years after Telangana and Andhra split into two distinct States.
Amaravati would become the new capital, according to the then-CM N Chandrababu Naidu, who made the announcement in 2015. However, Andhra Pradesh intended for its three capital cities—Amaravati, Visakhapatnam, and Kurnool—to exist by the year 2020. When the Andhra Pradesh High Court overturned the judgement in March of last year and ordered the government to develop Amaravati, the city also came to be known as the epicentre of a land fraud, an accusation made by the ruling YSR Congress against the Telugu Desam Party.

Diamond of the East Coast
The city is known as the “Jewel of the East coast” and is one of the biggest port cities in south India, nestled between the Eastern Ghats mountain range and the Bay of Bengal. Steel Plant in Visakhapatnam
The only shore-based steel mill in India is the 33,000-acre Vizag Steel Plant near Gajuwaka, founded in 1971. In the fiscal year 2021–2022, the factory will produce 5.138 million tonnes of saleable steel, 5.272 million tonnes of crude steel, and 5.773 million tonnes of hot metal with a concentration on creating value-added steel.
