Kadapa: On Monday, an SUV carrying seven persons collided with a truck in the YSR Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, leaving eight more injured.
The collision happened this morning early, according to the police, on the Kadapa-Tadipatri highway close to the Chitravati bridge in Kondapuram mandal. After offering their respects at the Sri Venkateswara shrine in Tirupati, the victims were driving home in a Toofan vehicle.
A truck travelling in the opposite direction and the vehicle collided head-on.
Eight more people were hurt while seven people passed away immediately.
Police had a difficult time rescuing the victims because the tragedy happened in the dark. The injured were initially sent to a Tadipatri hospital, and then they were moved to Anantapur.
The dead and hurt were from Tadipatri in the Andhra Pradesh province’s Anantapur district and Bellary in neighbouring Karnataka. Children and women were among the victims.
