On Sunday, two people were killed in separate incidents in the districts of Eluru and Kakinada.
Amaravati: Two people died on Sunday during cockfights held as part of Sankranti celebrations in Eluru and Kakinada districts, as a result of injuries caused by knives tied to roosters’ legs.
Padma Raju, 20, was watching the cockfight at Antapalli village in Nallajerla mandal in Eluru when one of the roosters pounced on him and the knives attached to the rooster’s leg severely injured him. He was rushed to the hospital but died en route.
In the second incident, which occurred in Velanka of Kirlampudi mandal in Kakinada, one Gande Suresh injured his wrist while attempting to tie a knife to a rooster. He bled profusely and died as a result of his injury.
