Jasmeen Kaur, 21, was allegedly kidnapped by Tarikjot Singh, killed, and then her corpse was dumped in a shallow grave in Flinders Ranges, 430 kilometers from Adelaide, where she was last seen, according to 9News.
Melbourne: A 21-year-old man has admitted to killing his ex-girlfriend as well as an Indian nursing student whose body was discovered in South Australia in March 2021.
Jasmeen Kaur, 21, was allegedly kidnapped by Tarikjot Singh, killed, and then her corpse was dumped in a shallow grave in Flinders Ranges, 430 kilometers from Adelaide, where she was last seen.
Singh had already entered a not guilty plea and was scheduled to go on trial, so his admission came as a surprise.
He did, however, enter a guilty plea before the court on Tuesday.
According to Kaur’s family, the guilty plea left them “pleased and satisfied.”
In April, the case will be heard again in court.
In South Australia, a minimum 20-year non-parole sentence is required for murder.
After concluding her work at Southern Cross Homes in North Plympton shortly before 10 p.m. on March 5, 2022, Kaur was allegedly “taken by force” by a man.
“I am sorry I agreed to transfer my kid to Australia… Months after Kaur’s passing, her mother Rashpal Gathwal had told 7NEWS, “I mourn her every day.
According to 9 News, Kaur, who is originally from India, has been residing with her relatives in Adelaide while working as an elderly care assistant and going to school to become a nurse.
When her employer phoned her family to inquire about her absence from the shift, they reported her missing.
