The major Sensex pack winners were Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, HCL Technologies, Wipro, IndusInd Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Infosys.
The only laggards were Titan and ICICI Bank.
Other Asian equity markets were trading in the green, including Seoul, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
On Friday, US markets finished sharply higher.
On Friday, the Sensex fell 452.90 points, or 0.75 percent, to 59,900.37.
The Nifty dropped 132.70 points, or 0.74 percent, to 17,859.45.
Brent crude, the international oil benchmark, rose 1.06 percent to USD 79.40 per barrel.
According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 2,902.46 crore on Friday.
