Kanpur: The cold wave in Uttar Pradesh is becoming more lethal by the day.
On Thursday, 25 people died in Kanpur as a result of a heart attack or a stroke.
Seventeen of these people died before they could receive medical attention.
Doctors believe that the cold’s sudden increase in blood pressure and blood clotting is causing heart attacks and brain attacks.
According to the Cardiology Institute’s control room, 723 heart patients visited the emergency and outpatient departments on Thursday.
41 of these patients were in critical condition and were admitted. Seven heart patients in critical condition receiving treatment at the hospital died as a result of the cold. Aside from that, 15 patients were brought to the emergency room in a dead state.
According to Professor Vinay Krishna, director of cardiology, patients should be protected from the cold in this weather.
“Heart attacks in this cold weather are not limited to the elderly,” said a faculty member at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow. Even teenagers have died from heart attacks in some cases. Everyone, regardless of age, should stay warm and indoors as much as possible.”
