According to Mansukh Mandaviya, India’s health minister, 2% of all arriving foreign travellers would begin receiving COVID-19 tests at random.

“The worldwide epidemic is still ongoing. The virus frequently changes appearance, “Thursday, Mandaviya addressed the legislature.

India has increased monitoring for new COVID variations as a result of the action.

On Thursday, the nation’s senior authorities and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were scheduled to meet to discuss the COVID-19 issue.

States have been urged to maintain awareness of hand hygiene and the value of masking in light of the forthcoming festival season and New Year, according to Mandaviya.

COVID testing at the Taj Mahal and a warning about India masks
A COVID-19 test will now be necessary for visitors to India’s famous Taj Mahal, which draws thousands of tourists each day, according to Asian News International (ANI).

According to Mandaviya, India reports 153 new COVID cases on average each day. 3,402 active cases have been reported across the nation as of this writing, according to the health ministry.

Earlier this week, the government urged the states of India to keep an eye out for any fresh variations. In light of an upsurge in COVID-19 cases in China and other parts of the world, it advised people to use masks in crowded places.

Masks, which are not currently required in most of the country, were discovered on lawmakers attending the current winter session of parliament.

India has recorded the most COVID cases worldwide, second only to the United States, with over 44 million cases to date. However, during the previous few months, the number of confirmed cases has significantly decreased.
