Hyderabad: Only a few days ago, the entire world was preparing to welcome the new year. And, as expected, many lasts for 2022 were observed on the day before New Year’s. As a result, many other firsts in the year were observed on January 1, 2023.
The first sunrise of 2023 was the most pleasant of them all. A video shared by Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata that is currently making the rounds on social media platforms shows a glimpse of the first sunrise from space.
He captioned the video, “Happy New Year. This is the first sunrise in Japan as seen from the International Space Station. “May this Rabbit Year be a prosperous one for all of you (sic).”

The video begins with a thin blue line along the horizon before a small white light begins to envelop the globe.
According to the KIBO Space Broadcasting Station, this is the first time in human history that the start of the New Year and the universal sunrise have occurred at the same time.
