The opulent carpet business, which has a nearly 102-year weaving history, is now in the city and providing its most stunning patterns for your house. The business, which was established by Oakley, Bowden, and Taylor, collaborates with 25,000 unaffiliated craftsmen in India who are involved in the weaving and production of the carpets.
According to Angelique Dhama, CEO of Obeetee Carpets, “We have over 80 designers working with us around the world, aside from the team we also have fashion designers like Tarun Tahiliani, Abraham&Thakore, Raghavendra Rathore and many more who are lending their designs to bring in the Indian design aesthetic to the carpet designs.
They start by choosing the best yarn for their carpets, dye it entirely in-house with non-hazardous dyes, and then leave the weaving to the weavers. This method results in hand-woven rugs.
A few sheds have been built up for the weavers, however some are permitted to do it themselves. Their quality control team inspects the carpet every 15 days to ensure that the standard is being upheld and that no kids are working on it. Additionally, each of our carpets has a QR code that can be scanned to learn more about the carpet’s weaver, according to Angelique.
Over 4,000 wool colours in the brand’s color library are dye-fast. To guarantee that the highest possible standards of carpets are produced in India, the designers are continually researching new textures and inventive combinations.
Two Obeetee carpets can be seen at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the largest of which is 452 square meters in size and has billions of minute knots.
