In contravention of Election Commission of India regulations, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s name was found on the voter lists for both the Khairatabad and Rajendranagar Assembly constituencies. The GHMC has been charged with carelessness for this oversight.
The Telangana Chief Electoral Office issued the “Special Summary Revision” of the 2023 photo electoral lists on Thursday. It shows that Owaisi, the president of the AIMIM, is registered to vote in Khairatabad and Rajendranagar.
The 1950 Representation of the People Act is violated by this dual registration. Officials from Telangana CEO claimed that despite several Congress leaders bringing the matter to the Hyderabad District Election Officer’s notice last month, no steps were done to remove Owaisi’s name from one of the Assembly districts.
