Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police will launch a unique student-engagement initiative titled ‘SHE for HER’ in the coming days, with the goal of specifically training girl students in women safety and cyber security, said Rachakonda Commissioner of Police D S Chauhan on Monday.
“In the future, we are going to start a ‘SHE for HER Programme’ for college students,” Chauhan said while interacting with She Team members. One or two female students from each college will be designated as SHE for HER and will be trained in women’s safety and security awareness and education.”
He also discussed the plan for women’s and girls’ safety in the coming year. Chauhan went to the She Teams office and met DCP Saleema and the other female cops who were part of the initiative to ensure the safety of women and girls.
Chouhan told the women constables working with the She Teams that the Rachakonda Police will conduct a cyber awareness programme in all educational institutions.
He believes that cyberstalking should be addressed as well, and that a comprehensive action plan should be developed to combat the crime. Chauhan instructed the She Teams to be tough on eve-teasers and to show zero tolerance for them. “Continuous patrolling and decoy operations should be conducted to catch eve-teasers and to provide a safe and secure environment to girls and women. “Awareness programmes for girls and women should be implemented in all educational institutions, workplaces, and residential areas,” he directed.
The Rachakonda CP also directed officials to ensure that the hostel management followed the rules established for running the facility.
