And it is not the only Indian contender on the British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ long lists, which were released on Friday night (BAFTA)

Following two Golden Globe nominations, a spot on the Oscars long list, and a slew of early awards season honours, ‘RRR’ is now one of ten films competing for the prestigious BAFTA award in the ‘Film Not in the English Language’ category.

And it is not the only Indian contender on the British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ long lists, which were released on Friday night (BAFTA). ‘All That Breathes,’ a documentary by Delhi-based Shaunak Sen, is also on the long list in its category.

‘RRR’ competes with ‘All Quiet on the Western Front,’ ‘Argentina, 1985,’ ‘Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths,’ ‘Close,’ ‘Corsage,’ ‘Decision To Leave,’ (which won Best Director for its helmer, Park Chan-wook), ‘EO,’ ‘Holy Spider,’ ‘The Quiet Girl,’ and ‘RRR.

According to ‘Variety,’ the BAFTA Film Awards have revealed this year’s longlists for 24 categories, with ‘All Quiet on the Western Front,’ Netflix’s World War I drama, leading the way with 15 nods, and ‘The Banshees of Inisherin,’ (Searchlight; starring Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell), following with 14’Everything, Everywhere, All At Once,’ from A24, and ‘Elvis,’ from Warner Bros., each have 12 longlist mentions, while the British sensation ‘Aftersun,’ from A24, ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ and ‘Babylon,’ both from Paramount Pictures, and the Cate Blanchett-starrer ‘Tar’ (Focus Pictures).

The longlists are determined by votes cast during Round 1, which concluded on December 30. According to ‘Variety,’ these films will now all advance to the nominating stage of voting, which will take place between now and January 13.

On January 19, actors Hayley Attwell and Toheeb Jimoh will host a live event and global livestream to reveal the final BAFTA nominations. The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 19, at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, rather than the Royal Albert Hall, as previously announced by ‘Variety’.
