Nadella, who is visiting India, met with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar yesterday and discussed several issues, including digital governance and security. New Delhi, India – Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said it was inspiring to see India's focus on digital transformation-led sustainable and inclusive economic growth. "Thank you, Narendra Modi, for an informative meeting. It's inspiring to see the government's deep focus on sustainable and inclusive economic growth driven by digital transformation, and we're looking forward to assisting India in realising the Digital India vision and shining a light for the rest of the world," Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella tweeted on Thursday after meeting Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi. Nadella, who is visiting India, met with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar yesterday and discussed several issues, including digital governance and security. Nadella's trip to India will take him to Mumbai, Bengaluru, and New Delhi. Today, on his first day in India, Nadella spoke at the Microsoft Future Ready Leadership Summit in Mumbai. At the Summit, he stated that cloud-based services that are energy efficient are a "game changer," and that adoption of such technologies will increase in the future. "Cloud-native applications (which are still in the native-to-intermediate stage) have yet to be developed... "By 2025, most of the applications that anyone builds will be at that efficient frontier of cloud net," Nadella predicted. "For example, moving to the cloud is 70% to 80% more energy efficient. The first step in becoming more energy efficient on any workload is to migrate to the cloud." "You also hedge against demand cycles by consuming cloud when you need it," Nadella added. Cloud-based services will be critical to scaling India's digital journey, and Microsoft is innovating across the board to support the country's ecosystem of developers, startups, and industry players. Microsoft has been present in India for over 32 years. During his interactions with top business leaders at the Microsoft Future Ready Leadership Summit, Nadella emphasised the digital imperative for every organisation and how the Microsoft Cloud can foster innovation, broad economic progress, and accelerate business growth in India. Nadella also discussed how organisations large and small in India are transforming thanks to the power of Microsoft's technology stack and solutions.
