New Delhi: In anticipation of protests from land losers, the Goa government has imposed Section 144 in the vicinity of the newly inaugurated Manohar International Airport-Mopa, which will begin regular flight operations on Thursday. According to sources, the measures were implemented to ensure that the free flow of traffic from the airport is not disrupted as a result of the protest. Many police officers were stationed in and around the airport.
“The regular flight operation to the newly inaugurated Manohar International Airport, Mopa will begin on 05/01/2023, it has been brought to the attention of the Superintendent of Police North, Porvorim Goa that the land losers for the Mopa Airport in the Pernem Taluka, likewise Mopa, Warkhand, Nagzar and Chandel are protesting under the banner of ‘Together for Pednekars,’ demanding that they be given first preference to register their taxis
Section 144 in Goa: Restriction List
The assembly and gathering of five or more people has been prohibited by the district magistrate.
Taking out or organising processions is prohibited for the next 60 days beginning Thursday.
The use of firecrackers is prohibited.
The use of loudspeakers is prohibited.
Prohibited to march with music bands.
Unauthorized social gatherings are prohibited.
Protests and hunger strikes are prohibited.
