“In the Sultanpuri case, the sixth accused, Ashutosh, who owns the car, was arrested for providing false information to the police. More research is being conducted “said Special Commissioner of Police Sagar Preet Hooda (law & order)
New Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested the sixth suspect in the death of Anjali, who was hit and dragged by a car for about 12 kilometres in the early hours of January 1.
“In the Sultanpuri case, the sixth accused identified as Ashutosh, who owns the car, has been arrested as he had given false information to the police. “An additional investigation is underway,” said Special Commissioner of Police Sagar Preet Hooda (law & order)
Earlier, police arrested five people who were in the car at the time of the incident. Deepak Khanna, Amit Khanna, Krishan, Mitthun, and Manoj Mittal have been identified.
According to sources, Ashutosh, the owner of the Maruti Baleno, and another accused, Ankush Khanna, who is still at large and is also the brother of another accused Amit, met with the five accused. Deepak was told to tell police that he was driving at the time of the incident because Amit did not have a driver’s licence.
“Amit, not Deepak, was driving the car at the time of the incident. Both Ankush and Ashutosh tampered with the evidence. To save his brother, Ankush asked Deepak to tell police that he was driving the car because Amit did not have a driver’s licence,” a source said.
Ankush is still on the run, and police are looking for him, according to the official.
