Hyderabad: With more than 1.51 crore registered cars in Telangana, Hyderabad leads the nation in the addition of new vehicles each year.
According to statistics held by the State Transport Department, out of Telangana’s 1.51 crore vehicles, motorbikes and cars combined make up around 85% of them, tractors make up 5%, and other vehicles make up the remaining 10%.
As of November 2022, Telangana has 1,51,13,129 registered vehicles, approximately 73% of which were motorcycles. The remaining vehicles, which include automobiles and taxis, made up the remaining 13.6% of the overall vehicle population. A total of 1.11 crore of the 1.51 crore vehicles are two-wheelers, followed by 19.45 lakh automobiles, 6.8 lakh tractors and trailers, 5.9 lakh freight carriages, and 4.48 lakh auto rickshaws.
In Hyderabad, there are over 77 lakh vehicles, of which 13.76 lakh are automobiles and over 57 lakh are two-wheelers.

Senior transportation authorities reported that Telangana has seen a consistent increase in the number of new cars and registrations throughout the years. In addition to the State being a significant IT centre, the rise of cars has been expedited thanks to the construction of solid infrastructure, they continued.
For the anticipated one crore people, approximately 35 lakh people are served by public transit, according to traffic police sources. Because of this, the majority of other people choose to commute daily in their own cars.
