On January 31, Jagan Mohan Reddy said that Visakhapatnam would soon become the state capital while speaking at a gathering in New Delhi.
A week after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that Visakhapatnam will serve as the state capital, officials have started making plans to move the administrative capital from Amaravati to the port city.
The district government of Visakhapatnam is working hard to find suitable structures, including one for the Chief Minister’s official house.
Although the district authorities have not yet received official instructions on the relocation of the state capital, they have been laying the groundwork for this to happen. The commands might be given at any time.
On Beach Road, a significant municipal icon, a structure will likely be completed to serve as the Chief Minister’s official house. If all goes well, the Chief Minister might perform the house-warming ceremony on March 22 or 23. This is the chatter in official circles.
Additionally, authorities were busy choosing locations for the minister’s mansion, as well as the senior IAS and IPS officials’ offices and residences.
On January 31, Jagan Mohan Reddy said that Visakhapatnam would soon become the state capital while speaking at a gathering in New Delhi.
He was speaking at a pre-summit gathering for international investors in Visakhapatnam on March 3 and 4.
“I’m here to extend an invitation to visit Visakhapatnam, which will soon serve as our capital. In the upcoming months, I will also be relocating to Visakhapatnam, according to Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is now in charge of the administration from Amaravati.
Although other ministers had discussed it, the Chief Minister was the first to express his support for moving the administrative centre to Visakhapatnam.
The idea of three state capitals in 2019 was initially put out by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) administration, with Visakhapatnam acting as the administrative capital. However, the work was slowed down by farmer protests in Amaravati and the High Court’s ruling ordering the government to build Amaravati as the state capital.
Amaravati had been chosen to serve as the state capital by the previous TDP administration, however on December 17, 2019, Jagan Mohan Reddy announced in the state Assembly that three new state capitals will be established.
