The High Court, which heard a petition alleging that construction work was being done without permission, ordered on Thursday that the report be submitted to the court by January 31.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests to form a committee comprised of Central government officials to conduct a field-level inspection of construction work being carried out in Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam.
The High Court, which heard a petition alleging that construction work was being done without permission, ordered on Thursday that the report be submitted to the court by January 31 after a thorough examination of the earth work and structures at Rushikonda. It was suggested that the committee be made up of only Central government officials and that state government officials be removed.
The petitions were filed by Visakhapatnam East MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu and Jana Sena leader Peetala Murthy Yadav, who claimed that construction at Rushikonda exceeded the clearances granted. The petitioners also objected to the committee’s inclusion of three state government officials.
