Hyderabad: Telangana’s chief minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao, wished for every village to grow and attain self-sufficiency, similar to Mukhra-K hamlet in the Adilabad district.
He was grateful to the locals who used the wet waste gathered in the village to make vermi compost and who also gave Rs 1 lakh of the revenues to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
Vermi compost made from wet waste gathered in the hamlet and sold by the Mukhra-K gramme panchayat brought in a total of Rs 7 lakh. Out of this, Rs. 4 lakh were used to instal a solar grid for electricity generation and Rs. 2 lakh were spent to instal a digital library. The CMRF received the final Rs. 1 lakh in donations.
The Chief Minister praised the efforts of the Mukhra-K gramme panchayat for successfully carrying out the Palle Pragathi programme and ensuring the survival of all 80,000 saplings planted in the village. He praised the village committee members, people, and village sarpanch G Meenakshi.
Villagers and the sarpanch of Mukhra-K gave a check for Rs. 1 lakh during the event a packet of their prepared vermicompost to the Chief Minister, as well as to the CMRF. MP J Santosh Kumar, Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, and others were present.
