approved the establishment of 101 more Basthi Dawakhanas in 63 ULBs in the second phase.

Hyderabad: The State Government is providing quality care to the urban poor this year by establishing 100 more Basthi Dawakhanas in municipalities and municipal corporation limits across the state.

In the first phase, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development department, in collaboration with the Health department, established 85 Basthi Dawakhanas in various Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). Following the success of the first phase, the State government has approved the establishment of 101 more Basthi Dawakhanas in 63 ULBs in the second phase. Each clinic will cost Rs.13.2 lakh to set up.

Depending on population, two or more Basthi Dawakhanas are being established in municipalities and municipal corporations for people’s convenience. During the Covid-19 pandemic, these clinics provided high-quality care to the public, particularly the poor and low-wage workers.

14 of the 101 Basthi Dawakhanas that will be established in the second phase have already been completed.

According to a senior official from the Municipal Administration department, work was underway in 36 locations.

The state government established Basthi Dawakhanas to provide quality healthcare to the poor in ULBs. Patients were given free medicines in addition to free consultations at these healthcare facilities.

The urban poor can also get free diagnostic tests at the Basthi Dawakhanas thanks to the State government’s T-Diagnostic initiative. As part of the T-Diagnostics initiative, samples collected from patients at respective Basthi Dawakhanas are sent to the nearest centralised diagnostic hub for processing.
