Police Commissioner AV Ranganath suspended three police officers, including an Inspector.
While Geesugonda Inspector Royala Venkateshwarlu and Damera Sub-Inspector A Haripriya were suspended after Haripriya’s husband accused her of having an affair with Venkateshwarlu, Subedari SI Punnam Chander was suspended for asking a woman to compromise with the ‘accused’ in a sexual harassment incident rather than filing a complaint.
According to sources, Haripriya married a month ago and allegedly continued her previous “relationship” with the Inspector. As a result, her husband approached Warangal CP AV Ranganath and provided evidence of their relationship. He is said to have submitted the details of a WhatsApp chat between the Inspector and the Sub-Inspector.
Following a preliminary investigation, the CP issued orders suspending the Inspector and SI on Tuesday.
