Around 340 businesses have fired more than 1.10 lakh workers globally so far in 2023.

In New Delhi: To date, more than 17,400 professionals in the IT sector have lost their jobs internationally in the month of February, with many employees in India receiving pink slips as the macroeconomic situation across the world worsens.

Around 340 businesses have fired more than 1.10 lakh workers so far in 2023, and it doesn’t seem like the trend will slow down.

This month, several well-known organizations have started to lay off employees, including Yahoo, BYJU’s, GoDaddy, GitHub, eBay, Autodesk, and OLX Group.

According to layoff.fyi, a website that records job losses internationally, about 1 lakh of them lost their employment in January, mostly at businesses like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, and others.

In January alone, more than 288 businesses globally cut more than 3,300 computer jobs every day on average.

Because of the recession, there will probably be more job layoffs in the following days.

According to reports, Meta (previously Facebook), which fired 11,000 workers in November of last year, plans to significantly decrease personnel during its “year of efficiency.”

Boeing, a major player in the aviation industry, is outsourcing nearly a third of its HR and financial positions to Tata Consulting Services (TCS) in Bengaluru.

154,336 employees were let go by more than 1,000 organizations in 2022, according to statistics from the layoffs monitoring website Layoffs.fyi.

More than 2.5 lakh tech workers have lost their employment thus far.
