California: Six people were killed in a shooting early Monday at a home in central California, including a 17-year-old mother and her 6-month-old baby, and authorities are looking for at least two suspects, sheriff’s officials said. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 3:30 a.m. to reports of multiple shots fired at a residence in unincorporated Goshen, just east of Visalia.
“The report was that there was an active shooter in the area because of the number of shots being fired,” Sheriff Mike Boudreaux told reporters. Deputies discovered two victims dead in the street and a third fatally shot in the doorway of the residence, according to Boudreaux. He said three more victims were discovered inside the house, including a man who was still alive but died later at a hospital.
Investigators are looking for at least two suspects, according to the sheriff. They believe the killings are linked to a gang. According to Boudreaux, the sheriff’s office executed a narcotics-related search warrant at the residence last week. “We also believe this was not an isolated act of violence. “We believe this was a premeditated attack,” he said.
According to the sheriff, two of the victims, a young mother and her child, were shot in the head. Alissa Parraz, 16, and her baby, Nycholas Nolan Parraz, were among those killed, according to Samuel Pina. “I don’t know what kind of monster would do this,” he told The Associated Press.
Pina stated that Parraz and her baby were living with her father’s side of the family in Goshen, and that her father’s uncle, cousin, grandmother, and great-grandmother were also killed. He stated that the family is in shock. “It comes in large waves,” he explained. Goshen is a semi-rural community of about 3,000 people in the agricultural San Joaquin Valley, 35 miles (56 kilometres) southeast of Fresno.
