Ranganipolam is the name given to Venkataiah’s six-acre plot of agricultural land. Ranga owned the land about five decades ago, but the name stuck, and the location and its surroundings are known as Ranganipolam, he says.
Baru Another farmer, Shivaiah, claims that some agricultural fields and their names became well-known due to their high yield. The practise is so old that when farmers hire agricultural workers from other places for cultivation, they no longer need to specify the location, only the name of the field. Shivaiah adds that they can find their way with just the name.
