The state administration revealed its partnership with Belgium’s thriving and dynamic province of Flanders on Friday.
Hyderabad: The State government of Telangana announced on Friday that it was partnering with Flanders, a thriving and dynamic region of Belgium, to explore multiple opportunities in the life sciences sector. These opportunities include vaccines and mRNA technological platforms, immunotherapy, life sciences university partnerships, and Cluster-to-Cluster collaborations. This announcement is part of the State government’s continuing efforts to strengthen Telangana’s rising stature in the global life sciences ecosystem.
Flanders’ partnership with Telangana, “a region equally headstrong in innovation, growth, and R&D, will empower both parties to share the newest breakthroughs in the life sciences Industry,” said IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao.
“The industry landscapes of Flanders and Telangana are remarkably similar, with a focus on life sciences (more specifically, vaccines), technology, and engineering. This partnership will allow us to explore Flanders’ robust technology landscape and the sectoral strengths it possesses to provide an ideal environment for industries in both regions,” he said.
According to a press statement, the cooperation will begin with Flanders taking part as the International Region Partners for the following three Bio Asia events, beginning with the upcoming 20th edition of the important healthcare and life sciences event, hosted by the State government. Flanders Investment & Trade will attend several sessions and present a significant delegation of top Belgian officials to Bio Asia 2023. Industry, academic, and government representatives from both sides have joined a task team that will discuss and carry out the relationship.
The press announcement stated that the two anchor events on either side would be Bio Asia in Telangana and Knowledge for Growth in Flanders. Both ecosystems will participate in these events to guide the Flanders Telangana Lifesciences Cooperation in the following three to four years.
The Flemish government’s Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) department advises, encourages, and supports Flemish businesses in exporting their goods and services.
